HIRING PROPERTY MANAGERS
Getting great results when recruiting and hiring a property management company occurs when the expectations are openly discussed with potential managers. Some things to think about include:
- What do you like or not like about the current method of management?
- What about the property is not in order?
- Are the personnel at the property effective and well-managed?
- Are the finances in order?
- Is the method of reporting accurate and timely?
- Are arrears handled appropriately?
A few other questions to consider if you are a co-op, condo or homeowner association:
- Are you planning properly for future capital projects?
- Is the communication between the Board and management good?
- Are you having regular meetings? Are you having too many meetings?
- Are you over-managing the manager?
- Are those meetings effective?
- Are the follow-up and project completion good?
